#BringingBookstoLife: Photo & Video Competition!

Primary School Photo Competition

Primary School Photo Competition

We’re looking forward to joining hundreds schools across the country to celebrate World Books Day 2019. From 25th February until March 15th our choreographers will be working with children across the UK to bring their favourite books to life through dance.

For World Book Day 2019 we are launching a photo and video competition giving schools the chance to win a free pantomime for their children in December 2019!*

The rules for entering couldn’t be simpler!

  1. Get your camera/ipad/camcorder out during your students’ dance workshop and get snapping!

  2. Each workshop session culminates in a ‘performance moment’, when the whole class performs a retelling of their chosen book through dance. It lasts just a couple minutes and is the perfect video opportunity!

  3. Upload your favourite photo or video to Twitter.

  4. Make sure to tag us @WestEndInSchool and add #bringingbookstolife

  5. Keep an eye out for the winning announcement on Monday 18th March!

Our choreographers in training - we love an action shot!

To help you win a special treat for your students take a look at our top tips for documenting dance workshops:

  • Film in landscape, as this ensures as many of your little dancers can fit clearly into the shot!

  • Every workshop culminates in a performance moment where each class will perform a short routine telling the story of their chosen book - a perfect video moment!

  • Try to find an angle to fit in as much of the action in one shot as possible - this is often tucked up in the corner, so get comfy!

  • Capture the fun!

Entries are unlimited so feel free to show us what each of your classes gets up to - from Nursery to Year 6!

To see what other schools have been sharing with us check out these videos, or if you want to get some photo inspiration take a look here.

Happy Snapping!

*Is a pantomime not suitable for your school? After we select the winning entries we’ll discuss the prize with the school - we could always visit with one of our drama workshops instead!
