Emotion Explorer:
Drama and Wellbeing Workshop

Reception - Year 6
Led by a professional actor-facilitator
PSHE, RSE, Children's Mental Health Awareness Week
Delivered in your school hall

A drama workshop that nurtures emotional wellbeing through stories and play.

It’s normal to worry, and it’s OK to feel sad sometimes - it’s what you do next that counts!

Launching to coincide with Children’s Mental Health Week (5 - 11 February 2024) with its theme of ‘My Voice Matters’, our Emotion Explorer workshops empower children to feel confident in recognising, sharing and expressing their feelings. The active, energising workshops support a whole-school approach to emotional wellbeing; with a focus on building empathy and emotional resilience through play.

The class-by-class sessions are based around your choice from Daisy’s Dragons by Frances Stickley and Annabel Tempest (EYFS, KS1), Ruby’s Worry by Tom Percival (KS1, LKS2), or The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy (KS2).

During the workshop, a trained actor-facilitator sensitively guides the children through a series of drama exercises that are linked to your chosen book. Just like the characters, children learn to describe and place their feelings in the body, connect with others, and discover practical ways of managing trickier emotions.
